A general logistics company specializing in toys and general goods was aiming to improve their SCM(Supply Chain Management) that integrate production and logistics at their shipper's factory in China by building a global logistics system that included a Warehouse Management System and Cargo Tracking function with export control.

Background
Needs
The new logistics system was constructed to meet the following needs:
- Improve operational efficiency by standardizing warehouse operations, including bonded warehouses in Japan and overseas.
- Visualize information and optimize logistics.
- Improve customer service by strengthening information provision capabilities and responding quickly to trace requests.
- Centralize logistics data by shortening lead time and quickly eliminating uneven distribution of inventory at each site.

System features
Warehouse Management System (WMS)
- Centralized management of receiving/shipping and inventory information.
- Bonded inventory management operations support by bonded declaration number etc..
- Stable operation with linkage to SAP ®, adding and strengthening functions of the existing warehouse management system.
Import/Export Management System
- Creates I/V and P/L based on S/I of shipping documents and shipping results at the local warehouse.
Status Notification function
- Cargo Trace System allows tracing international transport cargo including offshore inventory, and reporting on the status of cargo receiving/shipping, to shippers via the Web.
Effects
- Total logistics costs were reduced by increasing the workload in China,
where the costs are low, and reducing operations in Japan.
- Customer service was enhanced by enabling shippers to easily search warehouse inventory status, cargo tracking information and shipping status, etc..
- Labor needs were reduced by centralizing and sharing logistics data.
